Welcome to Deanwood Primary School. Starting school is a most important time in your child's life and at Deanwood we aim to make it a great start. Being a smaller school helps us to create a happy, successful and safe environment in which to learn.
Deanwood is a community Primary School with a nursery provision. At present, there are 209 children on roll, organised into eight classes. A large percentage of our children join us at the age of 3 and leave at the end of Year 6. Deanwood joined the Howard Academy Trust on 1st October 2016.
Studybugs for Parents and Carers
A better, safer way to report when your child is sick and off school. With a few quick taps or clicks, you can give your child’s school all they need to record absence due to illness.
We recognise that a curriculum has to be broad, balanced and offer pupils opportunities to grow as individuals as well as learners. We also intend to offer our pupils new and exciting experiences through extra-curricular activities that are designed to build resilience, confidence and self-esteem.
At Deanwood we want everybody to be “Happy, Successful and Safe”. We aim to do this by promoting the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty
& mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.

Year 5 Bridge Building - Part Four! The bridge building continues in Hawthorn Class! This time, the children worked in groups to make pneumatic bridges using cardboard, syringes and tubing.
Towards the end of last term, Year 4 had a lovely, warm morning of P.E. They became familiar with the rules of Rounders and adapted their team-play strategies to become more successful on both the batting as well as the fielding teams.
Year 5 Bridge Building - Part Three! I think all of Hawthorn Class would agree that the best part of their bridge building work was the wonderful workshop that they attended in the school hall. This was led by The Rochester Bridge Trust. As you can see, the children got to experience a lot of exciting things that morning and learnt a lot of new skills. We certainly have some engineers in the making! #rochesterbridgetrust
Year 5 Bridge Building - Part Two! After experimenting with paper and card, Hawthorn Class moved on to making truss bridges using spaghetti and straws. It looks like they had a lot of fun!
