Welcome to Deanwood Primary School. Starting school is a most important time in your child's life and at Deanwood we aim to make it a great start. Being a smaller school helps us to create a happy, successful and safe environment in which to learn.
Deanwood is a community Primary School with a nursery provision. At present, there are 209 children on roll, organised into eight classes. A large percentage of our children join us at the age of 3 and leave at the end of Year 6. Deanwood joined the Howard Academy Trust on 1st October 2016.
Studybugs for Parents and Carers
A better, safer way to report when your child is sick and off school. With a few quick taps or clicks, you can give your child’s school all they need to record absence due to illness.
We recognise that a curriculum has to be broad, balanced and offer pupils opportunities to grow as individuals as well as learners. We also intend to offer our pupils new and exciting experiences through extra-curricular activities that are designed to build resilience, confidence and self-esteem.
At Deanwood we want everybody to be “Happy, Successful and Safe”. We aim to do this by promoting the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty
& mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.

Did you know that she was the wife of the composer Robert Schumann and also that she was lifelong friends with the composer Johannes Brahms? During their exploration of different art materials, the children in Nursery have been using water paints! The children have been learning to use water in their painting to clean their brush in between colours. They also used different sized brushes and explored how different amounts of pressure create deeper or softer colours.
Willow Class have been working really hard in maths at the start of this term. They have been learning about time and have been using their knowledge to convert between hours, minutes and seconds. There have been some very tricky calculations!
