Welcome to Deanwood Primary School. Starting school is a most important time in your child's life and at Deanwood we aim to make it a great start. Being a smaller school helps us to create a happy, successful and safe environment in which to learn.
Deanwood is a community Primary School with a nursery provision. At present, there are 209 children on roll, organised into eight classes. A large percentage of our children join us at the age of 3 and leave at the end of Year 6. Deanwood joined the Howard Academy Trust on 1st October 2016.

A better, safer way to report when your child is sick and off school. With a few quick taps or clicks, you can give your child’s school all they need to record absence due to illness.
We recognise that a curriculum has to be broad, balanced and offer pupils opportunities to grow as individuals as well as learners. We also intend to offer our pupils new and exciting experiences through extra-curricular activities that are designed to build resilience, confidence and self-esteem.
At Deanwood we want everybody to be “Happy, Successful and Safe”. We aim to do this by promoting the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty
& mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.

A couple of weeks ago, we celebrated Health Living Week at Deanwood. On the first day, the whole school thought about sleep and self-care. Year 4 discussed why sleep and rest is important, looked at their own sleep routines and thought about whether white noise is relaxing for them or not. They also enjoyed a comfy PJ day and designed their own sleep masks.
You may have noticed that Ms Hand is flooding our page with pictures at the moment! We make no apologies for this as we love showcasing how much fun our Year R children have been having in their first year at Deanwood! (We still have a few spaces available if you would like a place for your child in September!) As part of their project on growing, the children planted some sunflowers. This lead to some excellent mathematical discussions about the height of the seedlings growing and how many seeds were left. Using their fine motor skills they very carefully put them into rows to help their counting. Can you post a picture of how well yours are growing at home?
What a fabulous end to Healthy Living Week! A huge thank you to everyone who took part in Sports Day last Friday it was a fantastic morning filled with smiles, sunshine, and team spirit. From start to finish, the children showed teamwork, resilience and built their confidence through taking part. We hope all the children, parents, and staff had a brilliant time. Your energy, enthusiasm, and teamwork made the day truly special. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make it all happen behind the sceneswe couldn't have done it without you!
